The orbital socket contains and protects the eye muscles, nerves, and the eye itself. Various tumors may form within or metastasize (spread) to the orbit from other sites. Some tumors are non-cancerous but nonetheless may need removal or debulking to protect vision. While others may indeed be cancerous, and need to be biopsied so that appropriate surgical and/or medical treatment may be initiated.
